Jack the Ripper, the name of one of the most ferocious serial killers in the world, inspired many films, but not only. During the 19th century, many murders took place in London and all of them are associated with this killer. There were films and TV series inspired by the five crimes committed by the killer. The success of the films was impressive. The TV series aired in 1988 and the main actor, Michael Caine, was awarded with a Golden Globe in 1989 for Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series. Other actors were Jane Seymour, Ken Bones, Susan George, Lewis Collins and Ray McAnally. The popularity of the serial killer was also an inspiration for books and video games. One of the first books about the case was written in 1923 by Marie Belloc Lowndes called The Lodger. This book was later adopted for film and stage. Later, in 1976, Stephen King wrote a book on the same topic. Literature included other great books such as a few of the works of Arthur Conan’s Doyle and Robert Louis Stevenson about the same character.

The fact that the killer was associated throughout time with death and sex, rock music bands used him as a symbol of their songs and style. The films which were inspired by his case were The Attic, The Lodger: A Story of the London Frog and many others such as The Ruling Class, Night After Night After Night, Time After Time, as well as Ripper and Bad Karma. A more recent adaptation is the CSI:Crime Scene Investigation graphic novel Serial. In terms of opera and theatre, there were also many shows such as Die Buchse der Pandora, Lulu, Jack l’Eventreur and Murder Most Foul.

Jack the Ripper is definitely one of the most known and controversial serial killers in the world. There are many things that have not been discovered about his identity and crimes. His image was used also for many video games such as Master of Darkness, Ripper, Duke Nukem: Zero Hour, Shadow Man, as well as Mystery in London:On the Trail of Jack the Ripper, Sherlock Holmes versus Jack the Ripper and The Strange Case of Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde. His popularity is impressive and amazing that his story inspired a lot of people.

Jack the Ripper is the pseudonym given to one of the most notorious serial killers of all time, whose identity remains uncertain until present date. In the fall of 1888, five horrible murders were committed in the Whitechapel area and adjacent districts of London, supposedly by Jack the Ripper. The reason why all these five murders are associated with Jack the Ripper is the fact that they all share similitudes. The nickname Jack the Ripper was taken over from a letter sent to the press by someone claiming to be the murderer. Who were the five victims whose lives were brutally taken by Jack the Ripper, though?

Mary Ann Nichols, also known as Polly Nichols, was the first victim of Jack the Ripper. At the time of death, she was 44 years old and extremely poor. She was known to be fond of liquor and was occasionally engaging in prostitution. She was found dead on August 31, 1988, on a side-street now known as Durward Street, lying in the narrow and presenting throat laceration and incisions, as well as violent lacerations to her abdomen.

Annie Chapman, also known as Dark Annie, the second victim of Jack the Ripper, was 47 years old at the time of her demise and was also an alcoholic. She was a widow and supported herself through prostitution. She was killed on September 8, 1888, and her body was found behind a house on Hanbury Street, with her feet pushed up toward her body and knees spread apart. She also has throat and abdomen incisions, as well as several removed organs.

Elizabeth Stride, also known as Long Liz, was 45 years old when she was murdered by Jack the Ripper. Reportedly, she had been drinking and was known to occasionally engage in prostitution. On September 30, 1888, she was found dead on Berner Street, with her legs pulled up in the air and her knees apart, having her throat cut and her body mutilated.

Catherine Eddowes, also known as Kate Conway or Mary Ann Kelly, was 46 years old at the time of death, which was also on September 30. Her body was found in Mitre Square, in the exact position as the previous victims of Jack the Ripper. Although she was an educated person, having been a heavy drinker caused her to suffer from a kidney disease.

Mary Jane Kelly is the only young female to be killed by Jack the Ripper. She was only 25 years old, but she also was a prostitute and fond of liquor. She was the only victim to be murdered indoors, therefore Jack the Ripper was able to create his most gruesome work with her. Clearly, of the murders were committed in the same violent style, which led to the conclusion of them being made by a single criminal, namely Jack the Ripper.

When hearing the name Jack the Ripper, many people are having goosebumps and they tremble when remembering that he was one of the most notorious serial killers of all times. He went down in history as the killer who killed several women with an unparalleled cruelty and bestiality. However, Jack the Ripper is only a fictional name. The real identity of the killer was never revealed, considering that the police did not manage to catch him. This only made Jack the Ripper target of numerous folkloric tales and fictional stories. Numerous movies and TV series were made after these stories.

Probably the most renowned one if the 1988 Jack the Ripper TV series, which was a four-part mini-series which portrayed a fictionalized account of the hunt for Jack the Ripper. Coincidental or not, the series aired at the time of the 100th anniversary of the crimes. The storyline behind the series is centered around a Scotland Yard police inspector, who investigated the murders made by Jack the Ripper and discovered an incredible conspiracy, which leads all the way up to the Royal Family. Chief Insp. Frederick Abberline, the main character, was portrayed by actor Michael Caine, who was awarded with a Golden Globe in 1989, for Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for TV. Supporting actor Armand Assante, who portrayed Richard Mansfield, was also nominated for a Golden Globe, as well as for an Emmy Award.

Other members of the cast were Ray McAnally, Lewis Collins, Ken Bones, Susan George, and Jane Seymour. Jack the Ripper the TV series was released in the United States on October 21, 1988, and shortly became extremely popular. The popularity of the series rose even more when the film claimed to have had access to top secret Home Office files. Producers also stated that the ending is the same one in real life, so this old mistery can be solved by the police just by watching the Jack the Ripper series. If you want to watch Jack the Ripper – the 1988 TV series, you can easily go online and search it.

Jack the Ripper is the name given to an uncaught serial killer that was extremely active in a poor area of London in 1888. Without any serious suspect, the killer was named Jack the Ripper, due to a letter that appeared in the media in those times. Jack the Ripper was also named “the Whitechapel murderer” – after the area in which the crimes were committed and “Leather Apron”. He had at least five victims. Because Jack the Ripper was never caught, he is still famous today and the case is still studied by a lot of people eager to solve this mystery. Jack the Ripper had the first criminal profiling in history. Police surgeon Thomas Bond was the one who participated in the making of the profile of the notorious killer. He collaborated with surgeon Robert Anderson to study and examine the murder cases, in order to make an accurate profile.

The surgeon was convinced that Jack the Ripper did not have any scientific knowledge, less anatomical one. He stated that Jack the Ripper must have had enough knowledge to be able to kill a horse. He might have been a butcher. Thomas Bond also noticed that all victims were murdered while they were laying down. The cut they had in their throats was made from left to right. The two man who worked on the criminal profiling of Jack the Ripper also draw the conclusion that he must have been a solitary man.

Jack the Ripper definitely had a homicidal and an erotic mania that pushed him to do the murders. The homicidal impulse Jack the Ripper had was probably due to an incident in his childhood or, he was a religious fanatic with certain manias that determined him to kill those women. Apparently, Jack the Ripper did not have sexual intercourse with the victims, but he penetrated them with a knife. The women were left in degrading positions with a clear sexual meaning. From theses facts, the two analysts concluded that Jack the Ripper still had sexual pleasures deriving from his murders. Although they had this profile and many suspects, none of them was really considered and so Jack the Ripper was never caught.

Jack the Ripper is a name given to an uncaught criminal who was extremely active in London in the late 19th century. Jack the Ripper was a serial killer and he operated in the Whitechapel district. The name was given to the killer after a local journalist claimed he had a letter from him, signed Jack the Ripper. Even so, apparently that was just a desperate attempt to highlight the story of Jack the Ripper in the media. The killer had other nicknames, too – The Whitechapel Murderer and Leather Apron. The murders involved prostitutes who were cut and mutilated and the connection between them was made quickly. Although there are a lot of theories about the identity of Jack the Ripper, nobody knows who the killer really was.

The killings were usually made during the weekend, so it was believed that Jack the Ripper worked during the week and that he was a local. Other theories claimed Jack the ripper was an intellectual, an aristocrat who ventured in the neighborhood only to do the crimes. Many suspected that Jack the Ripper was actually a doctor, as he had the custom to mutilate the victims and to remove their internal organs. Due to this fact it was believed that he had medical knowledge. After many years of investigation, many names were proposed on the list of suspects, although those people did not have anything to do with the case or they were simply famous and never considered by the police.

As everyone who was accused or suspected of being Jack the Ripper is now dead, theories still circulate, but without any evidence or historical base. Many people have thought about the identity and also the profession of Jack the Ripper and tried to collaborate with the authorities, but those working on the case never had a solution. The list of suspects in the case of Jack the Ripper had over 100 names, so it was hard to accuse someone without having any evidence. In present, there are hundreds of theories and because of the mystery surrounding Jack the Ripper, a lot of works of fictions have been created.

Everyone has heard by now about Jack the Ripper. Although Jack the Ripper is not a positive character or someone who has managed to achieve worldwide recognition, the man has become known all over the world due to the way he managed to terrify London, but actually the entire world. And the stories linked to the life and actions of Jack the Ripper have surely been able to shock and also frighten all of us.

Although the identity of the murderer has never been exposed, the name Jack the Ripper has become largely used after being established due to a letter that someone wrote claiming to be the murderer. Jack the Ripper managed to draw fear on the streets of London in 1888. How did Jack the Ripper committed those murders? Well, his victims commonly were prostitutes, or simply women, who were killed by cutting their throats. And that was not all. After murdering them, Jack the Ripper cut their abdomens and removed organs from their bodies. Due to the fact that he made horrific mutilations to the body of his victims, detectives always believed that Jack the Ripper possessed medical knowledge.

Numerous murders, horrific mutilations and some of the most brutal actions, made 1880s London name the serial killer, Jack the Ripper. However, the real murder was never caught and so, the true identity of Jack the Ripper has never been exposed to the public. And, of course, Jack the Ripper has never paid for his crimes. Although the murderer was not convicted, more than 100 suspects and theories linked to his identity have been made public during the years. And since Jack the Ripper achieved such an impressive popularity, after the events that happened in the 1890s, many other series killers tried to follow his steps, killing their victims in similar ways. Jack the Ripper has inspired numerous movies and various speculations have been made about the nature and the story of the killer. However, the reality is that no one knows who Jack the Ripper really was and everything, besides the nature of his killings, are only speculations. The hideous crimes of the murderer, will however always shock and frighten us, as the level of cruelty a man is capable of reaches its highest points in the actions of Jack the Ripper.

In the 1980s, London was terrified by a series of horrible murders. Nowadays, after more than 120 years since the crimes, the stories about Jack the Ripper are still famous. Jack the Ripper is the name that the local press gave to the author of the crimes back then. This nick name first appeared in a letter that someone who claimed to be the murderer wrote. However, Jack the Ripper is the perfect name to describe the way in which the crimes were committed. Five female prostitutes were murdered in a brutal and cruel way by Jack the Ripper. Their throats were cut and then they were mutilated. As Jack the Ripper removed some of their organs, it is said that he must have had some kind of medical and surgical knowledge.

The canonical victims of Jack the Ripper were Marry Ann Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Catherine Eddowes and Mary Jane Kelly. The first body was discovered by the London police on August 31, 1988. The following victims were discovered on September 8, September 30 and November 9. The whole town was freaking out and people were beginning to avoid as much as they could stepping a foot in the Whitechapel district. Jack the Ripper was never caught by the police, although many suspects were identified. However, his story became extremely popular. There are many reasons behind the notoriety that Jack the Ripper gained all over the world. First, there is the fact that the case of the five murders held the front page of all the newspapers back then.

The press took advantage of every possible track to make up new stories and scenarios. Daily updates were provided to the readers about Jack the Ripper, so he became a notorious media figure. Then, another reason behind Jack the Ripper’s popularity is the London area where the crimes took place. The district started to be perceived as one of the most dangerous places in England, where villains and burglars felt like home. In the eyes of the Victorian society, the Whitechapel district was the vivid image, reflection and personification of all the evils happening back then.

Last but not least, Jack the Ripper became the most notorious serial killer in the world because of his name. Many people believe that a journalist gave that name, in order to rise the popularity of the subject and thus to increase the newspaper sales. If this is the case, we may say that he/she succeeded, because Jack the Ripper was turned into an international phenomena. Throughout the years, many stories have been told about Jack the Ripper. The murderer even became the subject of movies and comic books, and while more than a century has passed since the hideous crimes, people still have creeps when they hear the name of Jack the Ripper.
